Rock, Paper, Scissors

The battle for who's turn it is or who gets what is never ending around here. Gabi brings home all sorts of new ideas (some good, some questionable, and some that make no sense at all) from school, and Beth and Jeremy quickly latch on. Well, remember the Eenie, Meanie, Minie, Moe, Chocolate Tail....? That's been the way to choose things... or rather to have someone else make the choice for you.

This, of course, is truly unfair because it doesn't take much to manipulate where to start to end where you want (once you figure it out), or to just keep saying words and waving your hand around until you like the results. Since Beth and Gabi have both figured this out (and knows the other knows it too), no one is willing to assume that chance played a roll. So, down come the tears, up go the wails....and what happens? Mom gets an ingenious thought!

"Okay, girls! Time to learn something new!" I then proceed to show them how to play Rock, Paper, Scissors! Eyes light up! Okay! Fun! It only took them five tries to figure out how to play the game and realize that they couldn't control the outcome and had to just live with it!

That was yesterday! Tonight Gabi and Beth were fighting over who got to read what part of the scripture stories!

"Hey, I know" says Gabi. "Rock, Paper, Scissors" Both girls get ready, but before they can start counting off, she adds "But Bethie, let me win this time."

  1. my kids LOVE rock, paper, scissors. "Rock, paper, scissors, shoot..." I hear it all day! They have tried adding "bomb" (it kills everything) but found out it didn't work well with the game. Have fun!!!
